Schwarzer Tisch / Black Table

Object / Installation, 2017
Wood, iron
270 × 270 × 45 cm

A black table, originally designed by Josef Hoffmann, was raised by two metres and transformed into a gate-like structure. The work understands every work situation as a contemporary moment in time that can become a ritualised act of crossing a border between past and future. In this way, the table becomes both a practical and symbolic threshold, foregrounding the significance of work as the generation of direction, path, and function.

The installation is part of the diploma work Richtung and of the ongoing process, long-term performanc, and research structure Stand der Materie.
